As the school year ended, we were reminded again of the impact you made by supporting the Professor Paws Project. We’re proud to provide you will the update below, created by the program’s graduate assistant and master of occupational therapy student, Shelby Dickerson. As you can see, your investment in the Professor Paws Project educated many Oklahoma middle and high school students about service dogs, as well as potential, future careers in occupational therapy. Professor Paws also educated OU students and the community at large throughout the year.
Please stay tuned for additional ways you can PAW-tner with us in this important program and have a dog-gone good summer.
We are excited to provide the following update on how your 2018 investment in Professor Paws is making an impact on University of Oklahoma students, as well as middle and high school students around the state.
During the fall 2018 semester Niko, aka Professor Paws, and his trusty graduate assistant have presented on the benefits of service dogs and provided information to 415 middle and high school students on occupational and physical therapy as a future career. Some of the participating schools included Bixby Ninth Grade Center, Charles Page High School, Guthrie High School, Dove Science Academy, and the Union Public Schools’ Eighth Grade Center.
Niko also helped to educate over 120 University of Oklahoma students and members of the broader community. OU-Tulsa students who benefitted from Professor Paws include those in the College of Nursing, OU-TU School of Community Medicine physician assistant students plus child and adolescent psychiatry fellows, The Hudson College of Public Health, and the College of Allied Health. Presentations were also made to The Lindsey Oklahoma Progressive Study Club and MASH Camp reunion.
As you can see, Professor Paws has had a PAWS-itively impactful semester, which was made possible through your generous contribution. Thank you for making a difference in the lives of our students and community.
As you celebrate America’s Birthday today, I am excited to announce that we have raised $6,060 dollars for the Professor Paws Project. Together, we are making a PAW-some impact on OU-Tulsa students and those who can benefit from service dogs – including our veterans.
You are certainly man’s best friend for investing in me and I thank you. May you have a safe and happy 4th of July holiday.
XOXO,
Niko
