Our Crowdfunding Groups
We are Sooner Off-Road! Our team designs, manufactures, and races an off-road vehicle for the Baja SAE competition. This year the competition will be held in Gorman, California in late May 2019. We will be competing against teams from all over the world in tests of vehicle performance and technical knowledge. These sections of the competition include a design presentation, cost report, sales presentation, dynamic events, and finally a four-hour long endurance race.
Our students learn many skills including 3D modeling, machining, and vehicle design. We are able to take the knowledge taught in the classroom and see it happen in real life. The funds that we receive from this outreach will be used to buy materials needed for the construction of the vehicle, software used for design and travel expenses. The students on this team get to have experience doing real design work and presenting that to professionals. We also have a community outreach program to promote STEM education in elementary schools. We work with a group of young students to create and learn about the engineering process.
