Who We Are

Working in conjunction with the University of Oklahoma College of Arts and Sciences, professor Paul Ketchum has successfully implemented a college preparation program at Crooked Oak High School in Oklahoma City. Concurrently enrolled students in the program work to increase their ACT and SAT scores to meet university requirements. 

The program, designed to increase the number of disadvantaged students eligible to attend college, was developed with materials to correspond with the core areas of study used in standardized college entrance exams. 

Along with Ketchum, current OU students volunteer to help Crooked Oak students to continue their education. Prior to the program, attending college was not an expectation of students at the high school. Today, the culture has changed and applications to attend college have increased.   

The Impact

The University of Oklahoma College of Arts and Sciences looks to secure support for concurrently enrolled students at Crooked Oak High School. At Crooked Oak, OU professors and student volunteers are dedicated to helping students by offering them opportunities that wouldn’t have existed without the program. Our goal is to continue to support and encourage these students on their path to higher education.  

Students at Crooked Oak can receive college credit through the state of Oklahoma’s concurrent enrollment program for courses they take with OU faculty. Tuition for concurrently enrolled Oklahoma high school seniors is waived, but there are fees associated with the class. Additionally, students in this program are preparing for ACT/SAT exams. Your contribution will  remove barriers for future students by covering the cost of the fees and exam preparation materials. Your gift will have a lasting impact on the life of a Crooked Oak High School student who is working to make his or her goal of attending college a reality.
