Design Build Fly

We are Crimson Skies! Our team designs, fabricates, and demonstrates the flight capabilities of an unmanned, electric powered, radio controlled aircraft for the AIAA Design, Build, Fly competition. This year the competition will be held in Tucson, Arizona in mid April 2019. We will be competing against over 100 teams from all over the world in tests of vehicle performance and technical knowledge. The competition includes a detailed technical paper as well as three flight challenges and a ground challenge.

This year’s competition is catered towards aircraft carrier operations. In addition to the mathematics and physics that are learned in the execution of this project, the team also develops their interdisciplinary team building skills that will help prepare them to solve real-world engineering problems. We welcome any students from all walks of life and encourage them to participate to expand our outreach to the local community. This creates a new bedrock for future engineers that can perform a project such as this, at a higher level of understanding.  DBF is a crucial environment where students can experience the difficulties and lessons of airplane design, but ultimately finish the project as a better engineer.

We can’t provide the best education experience except by the support from donors and supporters. In order for the University of Oklahoma DBF project to succeed, we require the support of our donors. Any type of support is greatly appreciated and will help us continue our education and produce a plane that performs at the highest standards in the world. Thank you for any and all support!

Thank you!
