Dear Friends,
Last year 15 boys of color participated in the inaugural Find Your Future Summer Education Camp hosted by the Jeannine Rainbolt College of Education, and and it would not have been possible without your help. We are excited to announce that we plan to expand the camp to include both boys and girls this year. We will soon be launching a new fundraising campaign for the 2017 camp, which will be held from July 9-14, 2017 and we would greatly appreciate your support again this year. More details will be available soon.
Thank you again for your support!
Sincerely,
T. Elon Dancy, Ph.D.
Krystal Golding-Ross, M.Ed.
We do apologize for not posting earlier this week! Today was the final day of the inaugural Find Your Future Summer Education Camp and we wanted to post an update to let you know that it was an overwhelming success!
We had 15 boys come to the camp for this inaugural year. The boys range in age from rising 9th graders to rising 12th graders, and they represent a variety of different backgrounds. During the camp, the boys heard from admissions and advising, OU student life, and a host of outstanding educators from around Oklahoma and two other states - Mississippi and Washington, D.C. These young men were thoughtful, engaged, and enthusiastic participants in the program and reported that they enjoyed the speakers and the camp experience very much. Hopefully they will eventually want to become teachers - only time will tell on that - but we do believe they will view teaching and learning in a whole new light.
We are confident that this program has made a significant and lasting impact, and this camp is only a beginning of what we hope proves to be a relationship between these boys, the Jeannine Rainbolt College of Education, and the University of Oklahoma. We cannot thank you enough for your support of this program! Without your help, it simply would not have been possible!
Our boys:
We would like to thank each and every one of you for supporting the Find Your Future program! Thanks to your generosity and the support of our partners across campus, we were able to raise $10,031 - smashing our goal of $8,000! This means that we will be able to pay for all of our planned expenses, and also host one or more additional events throughout the year to provide the students with more support in making the transition from high school to college. We will keep you all posted!
Thank you again for your support!
We wanted to send out a quick update to let everyone know that we have just received word that another generous donor has committed to provide $2,000 in matching funds! This will retroactively apply to the funds we received that were in excess of the previous $4,000 ($2,000 in gifts + $2,000 matching).
This means that ALL gifts we have already received have been matched for double the impact (reflected in the fundraising total). Any gifts made to help us reach our campaign goal of $8000 will be doubled as well.
Please share far and wide...only 4 days left in the campaign! Thanks so much for all you do!
MATCHING CHALLENGE UPDATE: The first $2,000 in donations were matched by a very generous anonymous donor! We cannot thank them enough for their support!
Including these matching funds, with 5 days left in our campaign we have raised $4,189 - 52% of our goal! We're getting there, but we still have work to do!
We would like to thank every single one of you for your support of this project. Because of your generosity, we will be able to provide (this list is not exhaustive):
Find Your Future is being funded entirely through private donations, so it absolutely COULD NOT happen without you! Thank you again for your support!
Please share information about this project with your friends!
Thank you for your generous support of the Find Your Future program! As of this morning, we have raised $1,923 in donations, which combined with the matching funds brings the grand total to $3,846 - just short of 50% of our $8,000 goal! With 14 days left in our campaign, we need to keep the momentum going! Please share information about this campaign with your networks.
We can't thank you enough for your support as we seek to prepare minority males to become educators and make a positive impact in the lives of their future students!
So far we've raised 20% of our goal of $8,000! And we are pleased to announce that we have an anonymous donor who has agreed to provide up to $2,000 in matching funds - which means we have actually raised $3,128 or 39% of our goal! Thanks to the generosity of those who have contributed so far, we will be able to provide all housing and meals for 19 students!
We are off to a great start in our fundraising efforts, but because this project is being funded entirely through private donations, we are relying on the generosity of people like you. Please share this project with your friends and family and encourage them to make a contribution - just $15 will help a student get to and from campus.
Thank you for your support!
