About Sooner Off Road
Sooner Off-Road is an engineering competition team and each year we design and build an off road vehicle from the ground up. We then compete in the SAE mini-baja challenge where we race against hundreds of other schools from across the world. This is no easy task, as it takes significant team work and dedication from our members to develop a working vehicle each year. However, this hard work pays off in the end as we not only show students how to apply what they learn in class, but go even further teaching them skills in manufacturing and design that give them an edge when looking for work post-graduation. Last year, we placed 47th out of over a hundred teams and this year we aim to be even more successful as our team grows and explores new ways to keep us on the competitive edge. We are also proud to say that we are an all-inclusive club on campus, meaning that anyone interested in joining the team is welcome including non-engineering majors. This makes Sooner Off-road a truly excellent place to explore and find new ways of thinking as people with diverse backgrounds and ideas surround us. We are proud to be called Sooners, and we hope to see you at the track!
Why We Need Your Help!
The funds raised for Sooner Off-Road will be used to cover the costs of building the vehicle and racing it at competition. This year, the team will be building a brand new car from the ground up. Funds will go towards bending and notching a new frame, a brand new engine, and a new braking system for example. Money raised will also cover the costs of competition like the entering fee and travel. The cost of building a new car is higher than modifying a previous vehicle so raising as much funds as possible is especially dire this year.
Your donation of $15 dollars would provide a brake pedal for the 2016-2017 competition vehicle!
Your $30 donation would purchase a steering wheel that would help Sooner Off-Road guide their way to success in competition!
Your donation of $100 would provide the shifting mechanism, which plays a vital role in the maneuverability portion of competition!
With your donation of $400, the Sooner Off-Road team would be able to implement the new semi-trailing arms designed by the 2015-2016 team's seniors!
Your generous donation of $1,200 would provide the new vehicle with a transmission! The transmission will be the key focus for our data collection and tuning trials this year!
