Put OU Student Media on the road!

OU Student Media is the steward of the Oklahoma Daily student news organization, Sooner yearbook, and OU Ad Force, which is our advertising and marketing team. We train journalists and advertising/marketing students in a real-world environment by giving them valuable hands-on experience that will eventually lead to successful careers. OU Student Media also serves a valuable purpose on the OU campus by supplying news and information to the OU community through many avenues, including printed products, digital platforms, and social media streams.

The need

OU Student Media regularly tries to send students to news events and essential training throughout their student career. Some of these include national conferences and leadership seminars. In order for us to continue giving our students these critical learning opportunities, we need your help! By supporting our campaign, you will help fund students' travel over the next 12 months, ensuring that our students continue to have these valuable experiences. Your support will also help keep our OU community informed.

Specific plans

We need around $1,500 to get the OU Daily and Sooner sports journalists to the Sooner post-season football games. This event is important to keep up our comprehensive, professional-quality coverage that will attract record traffic to our websites, and social media platforms.

Another $1,500 will let us send at least four OU Daily and Sooner students to the National College Media Convention in Dallas. Our students couldn't make it to this year's convention. Both The OU Daily and Sooner won the Pacemaker Award, often called the Pulitzer Prize of college journalism! Help us make sure we don't miss out again next year!

$1,000 will help us send at least four OU Ad Force students to the annual College Media Business and Advertising Managers conference in Fort Worth this spring.

We will also be sending the OU Daily editor to a leadership training workshop in Minneapolis. The trip there is around $500. Our student advertising manager will also attend a similar workshop in Chicago with the cost of around $500.

If we exceed our goal, we can send even more students on the mentioned trips! Please help us raise more than our $5,000 goal! If we are not able to reach our goal, some of our students will have to miss out on real-life experiences. (Let's not let that happen!)

How you can help

We appreciate any and all support we receive. And we'd be honored if you shared this page with your friends, family and colleagues on social media, or by email. Help us spread the word and make sure we beat our goal of $5,000 by Dec. 19.

Traveling to conferences and news events is instrumental in helping our students learn the most with their opportunity in OU Student Media. These experiences will help launch their careers after their time at OU.

Thank you for helping our students achieve their goals and have an extraordinary experience at OU!
