Hello SoRo Friends, Just a final update as the Summer 2017 comes to a close! The team had an absolute blast earlier this summer competing in the 2017 University Rover Challenge!! This competition kept us busy from October - June as we competed for a place at finals out of the 86 teams that started the 2017 URC journey; The Sooner Rover Team's final placement was 23rd!!
We want to thank everybody who followed us through this year and showed us support. We could not have done it without you! The team learned a lot about our rover as well as gained valuable experience on the courses and at competition during our first year at the University Rover Challenge. We took notes, looked for feedback, and have since been gearing up to go for our second round in the 2018 URC competition.
We hope you follow us again,
THANK YOU.
The Sooner Rover Team
We are very excited to announce that the Sooner Rover Team made the final cut for the University Rover Challenge!! Over 80 teams started this competition in December 2016 and we are now one of only 30 teams left. We can't wait to travel to Utah and compete in the URC this June. The team is hard at work putting together a rover to make ourselves and our supporters proud. We could not have reached this point in this years competition without the support you provided.
So once again THANK YOU, we'll keep in touch!
(p.s. A little bird was tweeting that there might be another voting contest for the name of the rover this year. Like us on Facebook to stay in the loop with all of our endeavors. )
- The Sooner Rover Team
The Sooner Rover team is exceptionally thankful and excited about all of the support that we received throughout this campaign! We just want to say one more thank you for making this campaign a success! We really are very lucky that there are people who share in our passions and are willing to support us through our endeavors. We encourage everyone to check back periodically or "Like" us on Facebook to see how we progress from now until June. We would not be able to do what we are about to do without YOU.
This is it folks! Our campaign ends tomorrow. SoRo has seen so much support throughout this campaign and we are extremely grateful to every single person that has contributed so far.
But now is the time! If you have been waiting to share our campaign for any reason the final hour is drawing near. Let's get our call to support shared around one last time! During this campaign the team has been busy. We have some amazing prototypes that have been fabricated and can't wait to keep everyone updated on our progress. Please, encourage anyone who might be interested in following the team as we prepare for our competition to like the Facebook page or follow us on Twitter!
Thank you,
The Sooner Rover Team
Once again, this team is blown away by the support that we have received! THANK YOU SO MUCH to everyone that has helped us reach our goal!! The team is ecstatic that we get to go into this semester with support and funding!
But we have until Friday!! Why stop here? Every additional donation will allow us to use upgraded equipment and higher quality materials. Let's finish out this campaign Sooner strong! Please continue to share our campaign page and Facebook (facebook.com/SoonerRover) encourage anyone who is interested to support us in the space and robotics work that this team is doing.
Once again thank you so much for your contributions to our campaign success so far. We wouldn't be here without you.
- The Sooner Rover Team
Right away, THANK YOU SO MUCH! For the overwhelming support throughout these last couple days! We have officially reached 100% of our initial campaign goal! We have the best supporters and are very thankful for everyone who has helped us strive for success. The team is working very hard this year to bring a successful rover to competition come June.
With that being said, it is undisputed that designing and fabricating a fully functional Mars prototype rover is very expensive and $4000 will not complete the job. Hopefully you read on the campaign page that we have a greater goal of reaching 400% of this campaign!! Please help us keep up the momentum by sharing our call for support! We couldn't have made it this far without your support!
We are super excited to announce we hit our 50% goal this week! And not only 50% but we are now at 56% of our initial goal funded. Thank you donors! We are so excited that you have generously decided to support this team. We will be able to begin manufacturing this semester because of YOUR support. If you'd like to follow along as we get ready for the competition, make sure you have "liked" our Facebook page: Facebook.com/SoonerRover. We love to let our supports know how we are progressing and will keep posts and photos up to date there!
Now, we still need your help promoting this campaign!! With two weeks left we have 46% still to raise, but we know we can do it! Please share our campaign page and call for support with anyone who might be interested in helping this team succeed! Feel free to just share the Sooner Rover teams Facebook posts!
THANK YOU EVERYONE SO MUCH!
This team has become more than just a project for us. It's a passion! And because of donors like you, while we are still in school, we get to spend time with people who have become close friends working on something, and doing something we each love. Something that our engineering education so far has enabled us to do! We wouldn't be a successful team without your continued support.
As week two completes we are now 34% funded! We have come a long way since last week, and we are so appreciative of all the contributions so far. But with nearly 20 days left in our campaign we still have a ways to go. Please continue the amazing support by sharing our campaign message and encouraging people to support whatever they are able to give. The Sooner Rover Team is lucky to have such amazing supporters and encouragers. Happy New Year!!
First off a big "Thank you!!" to everyone who has shown support of our team so far during the first week. We greatly appreciate your support and all of the 11 wonderful donors that have given so far!
Currently, however, we are only 9% funded. There are still 24 days left in our campaign though and I believe we can make it to our goal! We just need everyone's continual help. We really can't make this year a success without everyone's involvement! Currently the team is hard at work designing a rover to uphold our winning streak! We have wheel and communication prototypes in the works and the team is buzzing with excitement as we move into the last semester before the competition. Each and every donor gets us closer and closer to being able to fabricate a rover that will make our University proud!
Thank you once again, and BOOMER SOOMER!
Everything helps! Five dollars may not seem like it will go a long way but it can provide necessary parts such as nylon XT60 connectors, misc. hardware (nuts, bolts), zip ties, etc.
Help provide some communication to our Rover! Everything requires intelligence and building our own intelligence requires lots of electronic parts communicating all at once. Parts: Electronics Box, Micro SD Cards, Lasers, etc.
Let's get this Rover Rolling! Gears and Communication are vital for our competition. Direction and control will be a major part of us being able to tackle this year’s challenges. Parts: 32 Tooth Gears, 50 Tooth Gears, Antenna Cables, etc.
The arm for our rover is very unique and requires many intericate parts for it to function efficiently. This donation can help contribute parts such as 360 Servos, microcomputers, etc.
Give our rover some life! Our performance will need to be at its best when the competition rolls around. Supplying and regulating power is one more thing that needs to be perfect. Parts: Power Supply, Battery Charger, Speed Controllers, LiFe Batteries, etc.
Support at this level will provide funds to assemble our custom wheels, get the electronics completed, build our rover's arm or many other important needs. Your generous donation will help our rover succeed in many of the difficult tasks ahead of us. Parts: Arm/Claw Servos, Cameras, Router, etc.
