What is Giving Day?

On February 28th, 2017, the University of Oklahoma will launch its first ever Giving Day. This unique program will span across all areas of the university and seek participation from OU faculty, staff, alumni, friends, and students. While reaching our individual goals for Giving Day is important, a critical aspect of the program is demonstrating the impact of private gifts to OU students. Private support truly spells the difference in the opportunities we can provide our students. We hope that as generations of students graduate, they will consider paying forward the generosity they benefited from during their time at OU. We hope that you will consider supporting our students and helping to build a more philanthropic culture within the Mewbourne College of Earth & Energy and University of Oklahoma by making a contribution on Giving Day.

How You Can Help

This year’s Giving Day will focus on raising money for unrestricted scholarship funds. These funds will help ease the financial burden on students and allow them to focus on their studies.

As the cost of higher education continues to rise, private support for scholarships helps keep the doors to higher education open for individuals from all walks of life. Giving Day will help achieve the goals of the college and university by making a difference in the lives of our students.

Who We Are

In a progressive move by the University signaling its ongoing commitment to energy education and research, the Mewbourne College of Earth and Energy was established January 1, 2006.  Included in the college are the Mewbourne School of Petroleum and Geological Engineering, the ConocoPhillips School of Geology and Geophysics, and the Oklahoma Geological Survey.

The schools are consistently rated among the top five petroleum engineering, petroleum geology and geophysics programs in the country. The Mewbourne College focus is laboratory ‘hands-on’ education and is an academic leader for end-to-end energy education and research.  Distinguished faculty, exceptional students, and state-of-the-art research laboratories are the bedrock of the Mewbourne College of Earth and Energy.

Thank you!

We are so grateful for the unwavering support of so many of you. Throughout the month of  February, we put bows highlighting all of the wonderful things our donors have provided us, ranging for student scholarships to classrooms and state-of-the-art technology. Without our donors, we would not be a top-ranked Petroleum and Geological Engineering School. Please help us grow this giving culture by sharing this page with your fellow alumni and friends, and encourage them to become a part of our wonderful donor family.
