Founded over 30 years ago, the DC Capital Club in the official Alumni Club of the Washington DC area which includes Virginia, Maryland, and DC. The Club hosts events throughout the year to support and connect OU alumni in the area. From hosting football watch parties, creating events for OU Deans and Professors, to connecting students to alumni, the Club works to host events that appeal to the diverse community in DC. For the past 8 years, we have been awarding scholarships to OU Students who come to DC for a summer internship.
The Club is raising money to help pay for housing for OU Students coming to DC for a summer internship. Summer internships help students advance their careers after graduation and allow them to make lifelong connections with others who have the same passion they do. While these experiences can be invaluable, many students are unable to afford the costs. Housing alone can cost as much as $4,000 for the summer and most internships do not pay. This is why we are raising money, to help a student come to DC for the summer.
Here is how the internship in DC helped one student:
"My experience in D.C. has led to so many opportunities for me because of the people I met, friends I made, life-lessons I learned and independence I gained. It wouldn’t have been possible without the scholarship from OU Alumni Capital Club. I’m forever grateful for the amazing experience they enabled me to have."
