Who We Are:
Current Conversations hosted by R.C. Davis-Undiano, is a TV and radio program produced by Outreach Video and Media Services. Each episode airs on Oklahoma’s local PBS affiliate, OETA and local NPR affiliate, KGOU. The crew tackles current events and social concerns and NCORE provides a great platform for these conversations. Students get a hands-on experience of what happens behind the scenes of a television show, in both pre and post production. Camera operations, audio engineering, directing, lighting, editing, and closed captioning are a few of the skills they acquire while working on the show.
The Opportunity:
The Current Conversations crew has the opportunity to interview NCORE’s prestigious keynote speakers during the week of the conference. Past interviews include Dolores Huerta, Matika Wilbur, and Danny Glover. We have tackled topics on Islamophobia, social activism, diversity, and Indigenous concerns. OETA is PBS’s number one affiliate in the United States, potentially reaching 4.3 million viewers. Production costs per interview are $3500.00, which is a minimal cost for a 30-minute broadcast production. While on location in Fort Worth, our students will have the opportunity to build a set, set-up and operate equipment, produce/direct, photography, and social media.
How you can help:
All donations are appreciated and go a long way in producing each episode. The donations also help provide content to local TV and radio in a time of drastic budget cuts. Please share our campaign on your social media and with friends and family. We are grateful for your support.
Thanks!
Thank you for providing an opportunity for our students and for your support of local programming. Your support allows us to begin open conversations on issues that affect us all, everyday.
Helps provide the essentials for a full day on set; water, snacks, etc.
