I am speechless and humbled at your generosity.  We had success after 3 weeks of meeting our original goal.  When I challenged to meet my original goal, you responded and with pledges forthcoming, we will exceed $7000!

This will completely take care of lodging for our 22 member entourage for our 7 day stay in Vienna!  This is a BIG burden taken off our shoulders and through your efforts, this event is now officially a go!

I appreciate those donors that offered dedicatory pledges for present and former music faculty, as well as current students.  I cannot imagine the amount of support from former students, colleagues, current and former faculty members, plus people wishing to give for a worthy cause. The ensemble, the School of Music and the Weitzenhoffer Family College of Fine Arts are amazed at your generosity.

My deepest and most sincere appreciation to you!

Eldon Matlick, Professor of Horn & Conductor of the OU Hornsemble

Send to OU Hornsemble to Vienna - SPECIAL UPDATE!

November 16, 2017

I am pleased to announce that with 12 days left to go in the campaign that we have successfully met our goal.  Now that has been met, I hope we can do more.  Initially, I wanted to set a fund raising goal of $6000, but was recommended to temper the number to a less ambitious one.

A heartfelt THANK YOU to the 44 donors already contributing to our cause.  Your generosity means so much to us and the members of the ensemble have been anxiously keeping track of our success.

As much as we have done, I am wanting to see if we can take this further to my original goal of $6000. This trip is an expensive proposition.  The budget to send the 18-member group to Vienna, flights and lodging, is a whopping $46,000!  With the committed help from the University, our present fundraising goal met and the expected student individual contributions, we are still looking at a $13,000 shortfall.  If we could knock this down before our official deadline of November 28, it would be an amazing effort. We are looking at additional ways for the studio to raise additional funds locally, as well

If you haven’t had the chance to help out, I would encourage you to do so.  If you know of anyone that would like to be a benefactor to totally support a student, that could go a long way to help out someone whose family may be having a hard time setting funds aside.

With deepest gratitude,

Eldon Matlick, Professor of Horn & Conductor of the OU Hornsemble

Friends and Contributors to our Thousands Strong effort:

Thanks everyone for your generosity! With your help, we are excited to be just shy of 75% of our goal.  We have a just a little over $1200 left for our target!  I am confident we will not  only meet our goal, but hopefully go over.  The more we can get, the less it will be for our student cost.

Keep emailing friends and anyone that would like to support our group effort.  Please share on you social media to help get the word out. and make this effort a huge success.

Campaign Update 11/7/17

November 07, 2017

Hello Supporters and Friends!

We are on our way to a successful campaign to help fund the OU Hornsemble's trip to Vienna!

After one week, we are just over 50% towards our goal!  We have had lots of great support thus far and with people like you that contribute, we would not be able to do it alone.

Please spread the word to your friends and acquaintances that might be interested in donating to our cause.  If you haven't donated yet, we would appreciate any level of support.  You can make your 100% tax deductible donation here on this site.

The ensemble members are making progress on their own by hosting our weekly Thursday Pancake Breakfasts for faculty, staff, and students.  This has quickly become a tradition.  The money we bring in goes to our Austria trip account and are weekly efforts are starting to create a good buzz at the School of Music.

Also, on February 22, Chipotle restaurant on Campus Corner has agreed to donate 50% of their profits from 4 - 8 pm to our cause!  This should be another good fundraiser for the studio.  We will be sending out coupons all our supporters and friends in the Norman area.

Please pass the news about our success thus far.  We need to reach our goal by November 28 so help us keep moving forward.

Thanks again,

Eldon Matlick, Professor of Horn
