The Concrete Canoe Team designs, builds and races a canoe entirely made out of concrete. We have been an active student organization at the University of Oklahoma for over 20 years. Participation on the Concrete Canoe Team provides students with a practical application of the engineering principles learned in the classroom, as well as important team and project management skills. The regional and national concrete canoe competitions challenge students’ knowledge, creativity, and stamina while showcasing the versatility and durability of concrete as a building material. Our team is comprised of many types of Engineering Majors and is one of the few engineering competition teams with the majority of the members being women.
Every year we compete in the ASCE regional competition. This year we will be heading to University of Illinois- Carbondale and hope to continue on to the National Competition in San Diego! Traveling to the competition is one of the most exciting and rewarding parts of being on the team, as you get to showcase your hard work and meet engineering students from across the region. However, traveling to competition is extremely expensive, as we not only have to transport our members but also transport our canoe and find lodging for the nights during the competition. Your donation will allow for us to not only bring the canoe that we are so proud of to competition but also bring our team members and let them participate in this invaluable experience.
We would greatly appreciate it if you would share this page with your family, friends, and colleges so that our project can be a success!
