The goal of the MCEE study abroad programs is to provide students with an important lifelong experience. Students come away with not only an enhanced academic experience but also a greater global perspective and true appreciation for life back home. They have the opportunity to learn and practice a foreign language, interact with colleagues from other countries, and experience personal growth and develop leadership skills that will aid them in their future professional life.
The first of our successful faculty-led study programs began in 2011 with a weeklong trip to the Amazon followed in 2012 with a 12-day trip to Buenos Aires, Argentina. In May 2013, 11 students, along with petroleum engineering faculty member Deepak Devegowda and Yoana Walschap, traveled to Santa Cruz, Bolivia, to take Dr. Devegowda’s Improved Recovery Techniques (PE 4543).
