The Independent Greek Council is the newest council at the University of Oklahoma and is home to 10 chapters, each bringing excellence to our community in a unique way. The council carries out its mission through mutual respect, leadership, honesty, professionalism and education.
The Independent Greek Council at the University of Oklahoma was formed in the Spring of 2015 out of a necessity and desire to support all Greek organizations at OU. IGC serves those single-sex, social, Greek letter organizations that are not identified with one of our previously existing national councils (IFC, MGC, NPHC, and PAN). Upon its formation, IGC became the third-largest council at OU supporting 9 chapters with more than 400 total members.
The chapters in IGC are diverse and unique, with a variety of special interests including:
· Technical studies
· Cultural celebration
· Music interest
